How Twitter views work on X
Twitter views are counted every time a post appears on screen. What the number really measures, why it runs so high, and when buying views makes sense.

What a view is on X
X started showing a view count under every post in December 2022. It is closer to what advertisers call impressions than to a video view. The count goes up whenever the post is displayed on someone's screen, in the timeline, in search, in a reply thread or on your profile. Nobody has to read it, open it or even stop scrolling.
That is why views run so far ahead of every other number. A post with 40 likes and 6,000 views is perfectly ordinary. The count includes people who scrolled straight past, people who saw it twice, and your own looks at your own post.
Why the number matters anyway
It is the first thing people use to judge a post, because it answers the question 'did anyone see this?'. A post at 38 views reads as shouting into a void. The same post at 14,000 reads as something that travelled.
It is also the number journalists, brands and other accounts quote. 'This post got two million views' is the standard way to describe reach on X, which makes the count a small part of your reputation there.
It is not the number X pays on. X has tied creator payouts to engagement from Premium subscribers rather than to raw views, so buying views does nothing for income. They are for perception.
What bought views do not do
They do not bring engagement. A post that jumps from 300 views to 30,000 and stays at 4 likes and no replies looks inflated, because on X everyone can see all those numbers side by side.
They do not feed the ranking. X decides whether to show a post more widely from how people respond to it: replies, reposts, likes, profile clicks and time spent reading. Views are the result of distribution, not an input to it.
Keeping views believable
Aim for a normal engagement rate. On most accounts, likes land at 0.5% to 3% of views. If a post has 50 likes, anywhere between 2,000 and 10,000 views fits. 500,000 does not.
Keep your recent posts in the same band. A profile where every post does 200 views except one at 90,000 invites a closer look.

A worked example
A newsletter writer posts a thread summarising their latest issue. It gets 1,100 views, 25 likes, 3 reposts and a few replies. The thread is good, and they plan to quote the post in their next issue and on LinkedIn.
Adding 2,000 to 3,000 views takes the post to roughly 3,000 to 4,000, which keeps likes at a believable 0.6% to 0.8% of views. The minimum order of 1,000 views costs 29 cents, and 3,000 cost 87 cents.
Adding 200,000 views would put the like rate at around 0.01%, a figure no real post shows, and the gap would be obvious to anyone reading the numbers under it.
Mistakes to avoid
Boosting posts that already did well. If a post travelled on its own, there is nothing to gain from adding views to it.
Forgetting the rest of the post. If you lift views a lot, lift likes a little too, so the post looks like it performed rather than merely appeared on screens.
Buying views for posts nobody will visit. Views are for posts you are going to point people at. Old posts that nobody opens do not need them.
Requirements
Views go to one public post or video by its link and are delivered gradually over hours. The account must be public, because protected posts cannot be seen by accounts that do not follow them. No login is needed.
